fall capsule

put a bow on it

I chatted about this a bit last week but I'm getting to the point in my capsule wardrobe where things aren't feeling as fresh as they once did nearly two months ago. I'm pushing through and trying to find new ways to wear each piece over the next few months. One thing that has been key to avoiding boredom is accessories!  [show_shopthepost_widget id="2866024"]

cozy casual

I'm almost two months into my fall capsule wardrobe and while I don't have the same excitement as I once did I still am really happy with almost everything that I selected. There are a few things I haven't even worn yet {which is crazy!} and a few pieces that have definitely stood out as my favorites. This outfit is a perfect everyday look. It's casual but interesting and I've worn it to the office as well as out and about on the weekends. Plus individually each piece is super versatile. I've had the jeans and the booties for years and while the sweater is only a few months old I know I'll hang on to it for years to come.  [show_shopthepost_widget id="2861008"]

you are my sunshine

I'm not sure if you caught the news on social media over the weekend but we have a t-h-r-e-e year old! Our sweet girl is getting so grown up and with every birthday so far I've always felt she's ready for her new age with three being no exception. She is beyond smart, has the kindest demeanor, and is truly hilarious. We could not love her more! [show_shopthepost_widget id="2856838"]

harvest fest

Ever since Labor Day weekend when we happened to go to three festivals in three days Annabelle's ongoing request is to go to a festival whenever she's asked, "what should we do today?" Since festival season is basically over we've had to get a bit creative but last weekend we were able to find a cute little event happening at Fleur Detroit that was appropriately named Harvest Fest.  [show_shopthepost_widget id="2849887"]

take me out to the hockey game

When Ken suggested just a few days ago that we get tickets to the Red Wings first game in the new Little Caesars Arena I did not protest, mostly because I love beer and nachos but hey, go wings go and all that sports stuff too! [show_shopthepost_widget id="2845205"]

outdoor exploring

It’s not lost on me how much I talk about the weather. It truly is the gateway into almost any conversation and has such an impact on how we spend our days. It’s common to hear people who live in colder climates say that one of the benefits is getting to experience all four seasons which is mostly a coping mechanism for being freezing a good portion of your life but also very true. The leaves starting to change and the air getting crisp gets me every single year and I hope the excitement never wears off as long as I live here. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2843020"]

yay! for october

I've always been fond of October but it wasn't until my due date with Annabelle fell within the month that it solidified it's status as my favorite. In addition to the changing weather and fall decor that I love so much I now get to celebrate becoming a mom to our sweet girl who is currently deciding if she'll be Cinderella, Spiderman, or an illusive third option {which is always the case with Annabelle} for Halloween. relaxed date night

Since the last few weeks have been so busy focusing on our little babe, Ken and I haven't had much time for ourselves, or to ourselves. When Ken mentioned last week that the new Kingsman movie had come out I knew that could be the perfect excuse to get out for just a few hours this week. Last night Nana came over and had a dinner picnic in our sunroom with Annabelle while we went to the movies. We had nachos and popcorn for dinner and had the entire theater to ourselves. As an added bonus, I didn't even know that Channing Tatum was in the movie so really, everyone won. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2836822"]

indian summer

One of my very favorite items to pull out of hibernation when the calendar says September are my over the knee boots. The past couple seasons I've worn a brown suede pair with a chunky heel {you can see them here} and going into this season I knew I wanted a black pair that could be dressed up or down. This pair totally fit that description and are super budget friendly, which made them a no-brainer. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2831353"]

falling around

Hi, friends! If you read yesterday's post you know that we've really been in the thick of it for a few weeks. Last weekend was the first time in too long that we were able to get out and enjoy a fun, mostly carefree day as a family. Despite the unseasonably scorching temps we were determined to get our first cider and donuts of the season. All I have to say is thank goodness cider slushies are a thing!
