fashion friday: gingham

Since I talked soooo much about fall this week I wanted to take a minute and remind you {and me!} that it is still very much summer. I think I've worn more gingham in the last few months than ever before so I thought it would be fun today to round up a few of my favorite gingham pieces. Even better, since it's definitely a trendier print I've included only items that are under $25! Happy Friday, sweet friends!  [show_shopthepost_widget id="2763844"]

gym & tonic

I'm a huge fan of dressing up a more casual item like a t-shirt. It creates interest and typically sparks conversation, and to be completely honest ups your cool factor by at least a few points. What mom doesn't want to be cooler? [show_shopthepost_widget id="2751555"]

go fly a kite

I have never been more in love with our little city than I was last weekend. We went to the first annual Detroit Kite Festival on Belle Isle on Sunday. It was a sunny day and just windy enough near the river to help the kites get off the ground. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2749427"]

come hangout with me at madewell!

I got lucky with this dress a few weeks ago when shopping Madewell’s online sale section and lucky for you it’s still available in all sizes {I’m wearing a small}. I love the bright color and the pretty floral print not to mention the cut is really figure flattering. It’s another twirl friendly dress and it’s just perfect for weekends and warm summer nights. hello moto

For the past few years a moto jacket has been an absolute staple in my closet. I wear it year round but find it most appropriate in the fall and spring when it's not warm enough for a denim jacket and not cold enough for a parka {ps, winter never come back ok?}. This one has been my go-to since I've adopted the faux leather trend but as I was shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last week I came across this one and fell instantly in love when I saw the gold hardware. a dress you can twirl in

Here's a fun fact about me, when I was younger my favorite movie was Dirty Dancing. And by younger I mean like 5. Which as a mom now definitely makes me question my moms judgement but it kept me occupied for hours at a time so really I can't blame her.  [show_shopthepost_widget id="2737774"]

cherry picking at westview orchards

I had recently seen a friend on social media take her kids strawberry picking at Westview Orchards and I thought it looked like so much fun. By the time we went strawbery picking season had ended but the cherry trees were in full bloom and ready to be harvested. Raspberries were also available to be picked but the staff recommended we avoid the raspberry bushes because they can be picky for little hands. Plus I knew Annabelle would get a kick out of climbing a ladder. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2736410"]

this is 34

I wore this dress on a date night last weekend. I had been saving it for a somewhat special occasion since the back is a bit more revealing than I'd typically wear for a night out. I received so many compliments on it, would you believe it's under $25? It would be perfect for a summer wedding. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2735094"]

summer adventures

Sometimes I put an outfit together and I think, how am I only wearing this for the first time now and how many times can I wear it without getting burnt out? That is completely how I feel about this top and these shorts. It's like they were made for each other. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2731046"]

current boutique

Today I have a confession. I have been in a major closet purge mindset and it's made me fall in love with shopping secondhand again. I go through phases where I want to stockpile everything in my closet and never let any of it go and then a new season comes around or I develop a new mindset and everything must go. Does that ever happen to you?  [show_shopthepost_widget id="2729279"]
