last weekend of summer

i hope you had a really relaxing labor day! you know, doing whatever the opposite of labor is. i will say as much as we had going on this weekend it was actually really great.

about a week ago we made the decision to seize the four day weekend {luckily my office was closed the friday before the holiday weekend} and potty train annabelle. i’m preparing a full dissertation on the events of the last five days for tomorrows post so i’ll spare you most of the details. but, spoiler alert, she is potty trained and we took our first major outing on sunday!

every year since we’ve been together ken and i have gone to arts beats and eats in royal oak over labor day weekend. it’s your basic fair and/or festival complete with carnival games, elephant ears and a few local food trucks and artists. plus live music, which we don’t seem to ever stay late enough to really enjoy. it’s so fun now to reminisce on years past and how our beer consumption has changed. and the past two years we’ve been able to bring annabelle {three if you count when i was 8 months pregnant} which is a totally different experience.

last year at this time annabelle was just starting to eat real food, i remember feeding her mac and cheese and being so excited that she was eating with us. and this year we carried around her potty seat, asking local restaurants if we could use their restroom so we didn’t have to introduce her to the joys of a porta-potty.

here are a few photos from our day. check back tomorrow if you’re interested in hearing more about our potty training process!

oh and my new hat is from gigipip, the cutest store i recently found online. i want #allthehats so expect more styles from them coming to my head soon!

on liz: madewell overalls, jcrew muscle tank, gigipip hat, dolce vita boots {similar}, sole society bag

on annabelle: gap dress, piper finn shoes
