When Plan B is Best

As basic as it may be, one of my favorite things about fall is the cider mill. Let me explain.

One of my favorite things to drink is apple juice. I’m pretty sure as a child it’s all I drank {lucky for my mom I was never into soda} and one of my favorite things about being in the hospital {or visiting someone in a hospital – is it weird to have a favorite thing about the hospital?} is that they typically offer free fountain apple juice which I pour over ice and drink out of a really bad for the environment styrofoam cup – with a straw. Don’t @ me, k? Anyway, we’ve gotten a bit off topic here. So I love apple juice and I really love cold apple juice. And in the fall, at the cider mill, they have something called a cider slushie and it’s basically my dream come true. It’s a cider slurpee for all intents and purposes and it’s freaking amazing. Plus donuts. Warm, cinnamony, donuts. So ya, the cider mill is my jam.

The problem with the cider mill is that it’s everyone else’s jam, too. Last Sunday was a gorgeous 70 degree day so naturally we decided a trip to the cider mill sounded fun. Us and everyone else in a 10 mile radius. As we approached the cider mill and realized there was a cop directing traffic and there was no way we were getting out of there in under an hour we decided to pivot. We kept driving, headed to the grocery store, picked up a few almost as good goodies, and went straight to the park. An impromptu picnic + playground equipment = fun.

So here’s to plan a’s, b’s, and c’s. No matter what you do as long as you’re with the people you love the most you’ll have fun. And promise me if you’ve never had one you’ll try an apple cider slushie before the fall is over.
