When Annabelle was born the thought of giving her a bath was so daunting to me as a new mom. I remember watching the nurses give her first bath while we were in the hospital and wanting to ask them if they made house calls because there was no way I had the skillset to bathe a teeny tiny baby. I probably don’t need to tell you this, but I eventually mustered up the courage to give my first baby a bath and I learned a few tricks along the way so when our second sweet bundle came along I found myself a bit more prepared to take on what happens to be a really special task. This blog post is in partnership with Baby Dove but all opinions are my own.
Bath time is fun
Ok, maybe not for all babies but both of our girls l-o-v-e the bath. Thank goodness. If you’re a mom-to-be you’ll learn someday soon that sometimes you just run out of things to do with your little loves. I’m going to let you in on a little mom trick, a bath can be a great way to turn a frown upside down for almost any baby. We like to turn it into a little spa day – get the water temperature just right, add lots and lots of bubbles, and then after wrapping her up in the coziest towel we treat our lady to a little massage. Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Tip to Toe Wash is hypoallergenic and is tear-free formula so everyone leaves the bath happy.
Babies look really cute in the bath
Even if you’re the furthest thing from a professional photographer it’s hard to take a bad picture of a baby in a bath. They make the cutest little expressions and it’s so fun to see how much they’ve grown from their very first bath. I would recommend having two parents on hand when taking photos for safety but giving our kids a bath is usually a family affair in our house anyway. Baby Dove products are created without dyes, parabens, phthalates or sulfates so while you do have to worry about dropping your phone in the bath while snapping a pic you don’t have to worry about that baby soft skin getting irritated at all.
When you find a product you love, stick with it
This is my most important rule when it comes to baby products. It’s actually surprising how loyal I am to the baby products that I love. As someone who likes to constantly try new makeup, skincare, etc. when it comes to my kids once I find something I like I will use it forever – and recommend it to all of my mama friends! It almost seems like an unspoken rule of motherhood. Mama’s love to share the products that work for them and their babes, especially when another mama is in need. Baby Dove cleansers and lotions are made with 100% skin-natural nutrients, and are ultra-gentle for newborn skin. I especially love the rich and creamy lather that the Tip to Toe Wash creates. The more bubbles the better, I always say!
It goes so fast
It’s hard to believe that in just a few months we’ll probably start combining bath time for the girls and retire our little tub forever. I love having this special time with Jojo right now, especially since so much of my time with her is shared with her big sister. I’m intentionally trying to relax and be present in every little moment since I know how fast it goes. A bath is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your sweet baby and create memories that will last a lifetime. Both of our girls have sensitive skin so Baby Dove will be part of our routine for years to come. Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Baby Lotion is good for all ages and provides 24 hours of moisture and soothes dry skin from the first use.
