a few rules for mix and match swimwear

I’ve always been somewhat of a rule follower when it comes to instructions. I never deviate from a recipe, I find it hard to use multiple makeup palettes during the sameĀ application, and when it comes to swimwear I like to pair matching tops and bottoms. However, I’ve recently been dipping my toe in the mix and match water {literally and figuratively} when it comes to two-piece swimwear and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Here are a few rules I follow {I’m still me, for gosh sake} when mixing things up.

Think about cuts

This combo that I wore in Hawaii complimented each other perfectly. The top was long enough to give me a bit of coverage and make me feel more comfortable, and the scallop detail on the bottoms added interest to an otherwise basic look.

Purchase Versatile Pieces

I love prints as much as the next girl but make sure you also incorporate solids into your swimwear collection to maximize your matching potential. Last weekend I paired a patterned bottom with a solid top and the result was adorable.

Have fun!

Seriously you guys, we’re talking about bathing suits. Whatever you pick will be adorable – break out of your comfort zone and go crazy!
