This year we’ve partnered with Xfinity to share more about their products and services as well as how we approach all things television and technology in our house. Thank you for supporting the sponsors that support us!
Here we are. At home. Maybe you’re working. Maybe you’re guiding your kid(s) through their distance learning. Maybe you’re doing both. I’ll bet in any of those scenarios you do not have time for a slow WiFi connection or worse, no internet coverage at all. I’ve first hand experience cringe worthy outages from co-workers at the worst possible time during an important client call or virtual presentation. I’ve heard tales of kids not being able to stream their teacher on video because one of their parents was also on a bandwidth heavy virtual meeting. It’s probably happened to you at least once over the past six months. There are a few tricks to enhance your WiFi at home and lucky you, I’m going to share them today!
Tip 1: Reposition Your Gateway
Getting better speeds may be as easy as repositioning your Gateway or router. Xfinity has a series of video tips to help enhance your WiFi experience while everyone is learning and working from home. We keep ours in Ken’s office, which is very central to our house and we’ve yet to have an issue!
Tip 2: Run a Speed Test
Anyone {regardless of who your current internet service provider is!} can run an Xfinity xFi speed test at any time to make sure your Internet is performing as it should. I recently did this and only took less than a minute. My result was Blazing Fast so we must be doing something right over here! Pro tip: you have to keep your browser window open during the test 🙂
Tip 3: Get an xFi Pod
You can extend your WiFi signal and get better coverage with xFi Pods. Pods can be plugged into indoor electrical outlets and quickly self-installed using the xFi app so you’ll be up and running in no time. In many homes, the xFi Gateway can deliver all the speed and coverage you need. For homes with connectivity issues, Pods can help extend your WiFi coverage.
Have you experienced issues with your WiFi while working or learning from home this year? Let it all out in the comments below!
