annabelle’s big girl room

Today I’m excited to share Annabelle’s big girl room. It’s been a labor of love to create a fun, new, very mature 😉 space for our sweet girl {who turned two and a half last week!!}.

There’s no particular reason we decided to move Annabelle out of her crib and old room and into a big girl bed in a new room. She just seemed ready and we were too. So off to IKEA we went one Sunday and came back with way too many things {as per usual} including the sweetest daybed that fit perfectly with my vision for her big girl space.

Because of how the rooms are set-up in our house I had a hard time figuring out how a traditional twin or full size bed would fit without taking up a huge foot print so the daybed worked perfectly for us. Plus it has a ton of storage underneath which allowed us to completely remove the dresser from her room, making it feel even larger.

The chalkboard wall might just be my favorite part of her room. I feel like it’s the perfect focal point and will be something that she can use for years to come – even if it means she’s writing things I don’t even want to think about when she’s a teenager!

I also love this little space we created with her Land of Nod table and chairs. Ken thought I was crazy buying that lady cup {it’s ceramic} but it’s perfect for chalk and Annabelle has been so careful with it.

I was so excited when I found this art shelf and flamingo art print from Minted. Originally I was planning to hang a really large piece of art over her bed since it was such a blank space but I love that the shelf allows me flexibility to change up the decor as often as I’d like and perhaps incorporate some seasonal or holiday elements when the mood strikes.

Those drawers are deceivingly huge! In the first one we have pants and shirts, in the second we have socks and underwear, and in the third we have pajamas and slippers, and there’s still room in each!

I’m obsessed with this bow organizer.  I think it looks so chic hanging on the wall. It’s hanging on one of these metal knobs which I have all over our house.

If you look closely you’ll see that we haven’t fully installed the back of this shelf yet {and yes I know, technically since it’s in a toddlers room it should be anchored to the wall}. I was thinking about putting wallpaper on the back but it’s such a small shelf I’m not even sure you’d notice. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

What do you think of Annabelle’s new space? I’d love to hear!
