I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while and since we’re still in the midst of a new year and new routines now felt like a good time! Between me and my girlfriends skincare always comes up as a popular topic. There are so many options and opinions {and people harassing you on Facebook!} about what products are best, what you should be using, when, how often, etc. It could totally be a full time job – researching and trying products. Actually, that sounds pretty fun.
Today I’m going to share my daytime and nighttime skincare routines that are quick and easy – perfect for busy, tired mama’s and really anyone who doesn’t like to spend a lot of time in the bathroom every day. PS: Make sure to read to the end because I’m sharing a special TULA discount code with you!
the line up
Here are all of the products I use on a regular basis. Don’t get overwhelmed, I don’t use all of these everyday!
cleanse
Morning: For months I’ve been using TULA’s Purifying Cleanser and we’re still not out of the honeymoon phase. It’s gentle, effective, and smells great. I can’t say enough great things about it. This was the first TULA product I tried and a true gateway drug. I tell everyone who will listen about it.
Evening: Nine out of ten nights I’m too tired to wash my face. I’ve tried doing it after we put Annabelle to bed for the night but I haven’t been able to stick with that so instead I have embraced my laziness found the best face wipes I could – these Simple cleansing wipes are as effective as a traditional cleanser and I store them right in my nightstand. They remove all of my makeup, aren’t overly harsh or drying, and don’t leave a residue.
tone
Morning: I’ve been using Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner for years. It’s super affordable and lasts forever, plus it makes my face feel extra squeaky clean {but not dry or tight} before I apply my serum and moisturizer.
treat
Morning: I had been using the TULA Volume Defense serum and I really liked it. It’s lightweight and absorbs quickly. When I ran out I switched to the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster serum. In addition to the fancy name and being one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s fav’s, it works great. It’s also lightweight similar to the TULA serum and leaves my skin feeling really soft and smooth. If my skin is feeling extra dry in the morning I’ll use the Skinfix Moisture Boost serum. If your skin is on the dry side {especially in the winter} I definitely recommend it, plus it’s reasonably priced and available at ULTA and Target.
hydrate
Morning: After my serum soaks in for a minute I apply the TULA Hydrating Day & Night cream. This is a great moisturizer for any skin type and never leaves my face feeling greasy or dry. Just a lightweight layer of hydration that smells clean and fresh. I’m also a big fan of the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve cream and typically alternate between the two. Again if my face is feeling dry or tight I’ll use the Skinfix Nourishing cream. It’s totally thick and luxurious but not greasy at all.
Evening: If you buy one product from this post please let it be the TULA Overnight Skin Rescue Treatment {ok and the TULA face wash, seriously the best}. I started using this night cream a couple months ago and immediately saw results. I woke up feeling years younger. My skin was glowing. Birds were chirping. Angels were singing. Never one to exaggerate I honestly feel like this is one of the best skincare products I’ve ever used. The ingredients listed on the jar include Vitamin C and three probiotic strains but I’m convinced there’s magic in there too.
eyes
Morning & Evening: I just recently started using TULA’s new Multi-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum and I’m already hooked. I’ve struggled to find an eye cream that sort of does everything and is lightweight and not greasy. This hits all the marks plus has a cooling applicator that feels great on my tired eyes after Annabelle wakes up at 5am.
masks
I’m a big fan of masks for both treating my skin and treating myself. Even if it’s only on for just a few minutes it feels like I’m pampering myself which is such a nice little treat for a busy mom. My new thing has been washing my face in the morning, applying a mask, doing a few quick chores like making the bed or throwing in a load of laundry, and then jumping in the shower where I can rinse my mask off while I shower. It’s quick and easy to incorporate into my routine a few days a week. My favorite masks are the TULA Exfoliating Treatment mask which is gentle but very effective and leaves my skin glowing every time I use it and the Fresh Rose face mask which literally has rose petals in it, smells amazing, and is very hydrating.
extras
I’ve been using the Grande Brow Enhancing serum for a few months to help fill in my sparse eyebrows that just don’t seem to grow on their own. It’s worked really well. I started to see results within a few weeks after daily use and now just use it a few days a week as maintenance.
I use Aquaphor for tons of things, like chapped lips and dry cuticles. It’s always on my nightstand and I’ve yet to find a better all purpose salve.
