How to Wear a Cape Blazer + 19 Week Pregnancy Update

I suppose this post is less of a ‘how to’ and more of a ‘I did it and so can you’. I’ve been admiring the cape blazer trend for some time and since it’s one of the few items I could still order in my pre-pregnancy size I figured now was the perfect time to try it.

I was actually surprised at how easy this look was to pull off. I was able to pull together an entire outfit using items I already had in my closet, pieces I’m guessing you have on hand as well. Which makes it even more fun because you don’t have to invest a lot to really elevate an otherwise basic look.

It’s definitely quite the statement piece but I can’t get over how chic it is. I haven’t been to Paris in quite some time but they’re definitely wearing pieces like this there, oui?

Since it’s been a couple weeks, here’s a little update on my pregnancy.

How far along are you? 19 weeks, 1 day
So that makes your due date? June 24th!
How much weight have you gained? For no particular reason, I was hoping to stay under 10lbs gained by 20 weeks. I started this pregnancy at 121 and this morning I was 131 so I’m just about there and fully expect to gain another 1-2lbs before the 20 week mark this weekend. As long as baby is healthy that’s really all that matters!
Any cravings? My appetite has definitely ramped up in the past few weeks. I eat two pieces of cinnamon raisin toast with butter every morning {basically the second I open my eyes}. Throughout the day I’ve been eating a ton of fruits and veggies but have also been craving a few not so healthy things like grilled cheese and Nutella. Oh and Ken came up with the most amazing concoction of popcorn + hot sauce that I dream about all day long {but eat at night when we’re on the couch watching tv}.
What about symptoms? I have way more energy than I did but my nausea has returned a bit this week. Luckily, I’m keeping all of my food down so I mostly just feel icky throughout the day and night.
Will you find out the gender? Nope! We didn’t find out with Annabelle and we’re excited to be surprised again.
Do you have names picked out? Not really. I feel like we’re getting closer to having a few options for each gender but we haven’t really taken the time to talk about them seriously yet. With almost 5 months to go I’m not terribly worried but hope a few favorites start to stand out sooner rather than later.
Are you wearing maternity clothes? Definitely! Regular pants that button or zip have all been moved to another closet and I’ve been starting to wear more maternity dresses because they’re so darn comfortable. I can still wear a lot of non-maternity pieces but most of my regular tops are too short to cover my midsection in pants so the struggle is real. Also, nightgowns are my jam.
Any purchases for the baby yet? No! I think we’ll start the nursery in April which still gives me plenty of time to order the crib and dresser and pick all of the finishing’s. Unfortunately the quilt that inspired the color palette for the nursery is sold out but I’m hoping it comes back in stock soon!

Would you try the cape blazer trend? I’d love to hear!
