While many of our weekends in the winter consist of watching movies, reading books, and lounging around in our pajamas in front of the fire, having a toddler means sometimes having to get out of the house because if you don’t you all might go crazy. One of the reasons we love living in Michigan is for all of the adventure possibilities our great state provides. There are lakes and rivers, hiking trails, campgrounds, beaches, and so much more. This past weekend we took our first trip downtown to the Michigan Outdoor Adventure Center and it was so much fun for the entire family! It’s so nice to have somewhere to go that feels like you’re outside but doesn’t require major bundling and fear of frostbite. I know, I’m a cold weather wimp!
When we walked in we were greeted by this friendly fellow. Oh and the admission is totally reasonable, I think it was $10 for our entire family to get in!
There is this awesome tree that kids can go inside and climb up several floors. We opted for a less steep climb and ride down the slide so mama didn’t have to be trapped in a tree with small children.
There is a working waterfall that makes you feel instantly transported to a magical place. Several kids were actually wearing rain boots and climbing through the water – I’ll remember for next time!
There are a few different simulator activities – a fishing boat, snowmobiles, bikes, and this kayak. Annabelle grabbed the ore and knew exactly what to do. Maybe she can paddle mama around this summer! 
I think Annabelle had the most fun on the shakey bridge. You can see the entire first floor from it and it’s not scary at all {per Annabelle}.
The bridge takes you to a hunting blind, just like Papa and Uncle Tim’s! 
My stubborn daughter is very committed to picking out her clothes and dressing herself lately, right down to her socks. I secretly love it but sometimes the outcome is a bit laughable. I just feel so lucky to be her mama. Her little personality is developing into the most fun kid I’ve ever met! 
There’s also an airplane that you can go in. Annabelle was super hesitant but ended up coming around. 
I know spring is coming but this sweater was too good to pass up. Plus it’s under $35!
