SURPRISE! We’ve been keeping a little secret for a couple months! We could not be more excited to be adding to our family in June!
If you’ve never experienced a first trimester of pregnancy let me just say, it is brutal. I think I’ve had almost every symptom in the book but the worst by far has been nausea. I’m just getting to the end of the first trimester and thankfully it is starting to let up, praise the lord! Ken has been a saint through this process – most nights I come home from work and am pretty much dysfunctional. We’ve had zero social life let alone date nights and I was sleeping before 8pm last night.
I thought it would be fun to answer a few questions to share a little bit more about my pregnancy so far. If you have any to add please leave them in the comments below!
How far along are you? 12 weeks, 3 days! {but who’s counting?}
So that makes your due date? June 24th!
How much weight have you gained? About 3-4 pounds, depending on how many Christmas cookies I ate the day before.
Any cravings? Not really. I’ll never turn down a bagel with cream cheese or popcorn, and recently I’ve been eating at least 2-3 cornflake wreaths every day.
Will you find out the gender? Nope! We didn’t find out with Annabelle and we’re excited to be surprised again.
Do you have names picked out? No! I still have a list on my phone from when I was pregnant with Annabelle but I couldn’t even narrow down a top 5 list right now if I tried.
Is Annabelle excited? YES! It’s going to be impossible for her to wait until June, she wants the baby to be in our family now! Every day she asks me, “mama, is that baby still in your tummy?”
Where will the baby sleep? We’ll be using the playroom that’s connected to Annabelle’s room for the nursery which means I get to decorate a new playroom and a nursery!
Are you wearing maternity clothes? It’s true that you show faster with your second! Just this week I started wearing a couple pairs of maternity jeans that I had from my last pregnancy. They’re a little awkward because my bump isn’t that big but they’re definitely more comfortable than regular jeans!
I’d also like to say that I realize some of you reading this might be struggling right now. Whether you’ve been trying to conceive unsuccessfully or you’ve experienced a loss {or both}, my heart goes out to you. We lost two babies before we got pregnant with Annabelle and it took us longer than I expected to get pregnant with this precious baby. I know how you feel and I just want you to know that you are not alone. You will get your happy ending and while the pain never really goes away I promise you will get to experience the most amazing love ever! Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out if you’d like to talk.
We’re so excited to share this journey with you! If you’re also expecting you’ll have to let me know in the comments below! xo
