Today I’m excited to share a quick and easy update we made to our kitchen cabinets that really helped to make them feel complete. I’ve wanted to add wallpaper behind an open shelving space for quite some time but until our new house started to come together I didn’t really have anywhere it would be a good fit. Our beautiful glass cabinetry was the perfect place to add a touch of glam and once I got approval from Ken {who has a strong aversion to wallpaper since he had to remove so much from our house when we moved in} we were good to go.
I contacted the team at Tempaper to learn more about their product and they helped me select the perfect design. I wasn’t afraid of incorporating a bold color or pattern but after receiving some samples the gold leaf peonies seemed like the perfect choice.
Installing the wallpaper is actually very easy. I’d imagine it would be even easier to install on a wall because the trickiest part for us was working within the cabinets. I’ve already thought about wallpapering every room in my house but I’d be living in it alone because again, Ken and wallpaper are not the best of friends.
After measuring the interior length of the cabinet I cut the paper to fit, removed the backing and then stuck it to the cabinet like a huge sticker. Lining it up perfectly took a few tries but once it was lined up in the corner it was simple to adhere the rest of the paper and smooth out any air bubbles.
We repeated that step about six more times until it was complete. We were worried we were going to run out of paper right up until the last cabinet but we had the perfect amount.

I’m so thrilled with how it turned out. I think the pattern adds the perfect amount of depth, texture, and interest, not to mention glam!
Have you thought about adding temporary {or permanent} wallpaper to a space in your house? I’d love to hear! I’m going to do our bookshelves next and I’m loving this, this, and this.
