This year we’ve partnered with Xfinity to share more about their products and services as well as how we approach all things television and technology in our house. Thank you for supporting the sponsors that support us!
Hi there, how are you? I think it’s important that we keep checking in on each other. Every day may seem the same {gosh do they all seem the same}, but we’re being presented with very different challenges daily. That’s why, despite how isolated and alone we may feel, I’m taking all the help I can get.
One thing I’m trying to do is embrace the positives of working from home, as well as a slower pace of life. For me, cooking has played a big role. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed, and it’s one of those things I just never seem to have the time for. But without a commute and co-workers to chit chat with over lunch, I’ve found myself cooking and baking nearly every day. I love finding new recipes online and hearing praise from my hungry crew when one of my creations hits the mark.
If you also have tiny sous-chefs at home you know that when you’ve told your kids that it’s time to make muffins with those brown bananas you’ve all been looking at for a week, the recipe you found online has to be available immediately! Annabelle in particular has no patience for waiting for something longer than 3 seconds {don’t even get me started on explaining commercials that can’t be skipped to a 5 year old} and that’s why I’m thankful for Comcast’s 24/7 network monitoring. Their network is engineered to handle spikes and shifts in usage patterns, and they have engineers and technicians on staff around the clock to ensure network performance and reliability. That means recipes precisely when you need them. Here is the recipe for our latest batch of banana muffins, and they’ve definitely been the best yet!
Another thing we’ve been somewhat forced to embrace is working from home. It has always sounded glamorous in theory. In reality, with two small kids at home, it’s just a bit different.
We are infinitely lucky that my sister, who watches our girls full-time, just happens to be quarantined with us. I don’t know what we would do without her! But the girls still know we’re home and love to see mama and daddy on conference calls. I love that they have this opportunity to see us in a different way than they usually do — even if that means a head or two pops in the background of a call from time to time.
With so many devices connected at once, I appreciate how reliable our Xfinity Internet service has been. At any given time throughout the week, Ken and I are working and are often on video calls. Annabelle is completing her online schoolwork. We’re listening to the Moana soundtrack on Spotify, and a movie is playing in our living room. And while the vast majority of households will not use the full 1TB of data in one month, Comcast is pausing data plans for 60 days. All customers will receive unlimited data for no additional charge. While my kids have zero ideas of what that means, my budget-focused husband is very happy about it.
One good thing from the past few weeks is that it has been great to see how companies are embracing the opportunity to help the community during this trying time. Comcast recently announced that they will not disconnect a customer’s internet service or assess late fees if they are unable to pay their bills during this period. All they need to do is contact Comcast to let them know before the bill is due.
Additionally, Comcast care teams will be available to offer flexible payment options and help find other solutions. While it’s not something everyone has to think about right now, it is a reality for so many people. I can’t imagine trying to get through this time without access to the internet.
So if you need us, we’ll be here at home. With full bellies and probably watching the same movie for the 37th time. Feeling grateful that we’re happy, comfortable, and connected.
