retro vibes

Last week a package showed up on my porch {which happens basically daily but stick with me here} that I wasn’t expecting. I had ordered a couple dresses from Shein months ago and I had forgotten about them completely because they were delayed for nearly three months. As excited as I was to open the package I was already anticipating my disappointment since three months ago dressing the bump looked much different that it does today. But! Miracle of miracles, this cute dress fit and has fulfilled all of my retro, 70’s, mustard, non-maternity dreams.

I actually decided to wear it the day I received it {I’m impatient like that} on our last date night before baby. We went to Prime + Proper to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and it was amazing! The vibe and decor was very cool and romantic and the food was delicious. The staff was so sweet and wrote us a card and gave us a dessert to celebrate. They know the way to this pregnant ladies heart!

One of the biggest lessons I’ve carried through this pregnancy {and my previous} is that it’s important to maintain your personal style but also be realistic about what you’ll be wearing post-pregnancy. Some items will definitely be able to work both during and after bump – those are the items you should spend a bit more on and invest in. But some things just won’t. In order to bridge the gap, buying very reasonably priced pieces like this dress that’s under $20 will help you to feel as pretty and pulled together as possible while being affordable.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hope that this was my last post before baby but assuming we’re still at least a few days away I’ll be back tomorrow checking in with a 38 week pregnancy update!
