There are few things I love more than holidays, cocktails, and Ken. For the past few years we’ve celebrated Valentine’s day a bit unconventionally, choosing a day date or casual night in over going out to a fancy, expensive dinner. This year we toasted to our love over the weekend by mixing up some cocktails with my absolute favorite cocktail mixers from the Detroit based Wolf Moon Mixers.
When I was in college I was very into cooking shows and one in particular really spoke to me, Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. In my child free, careless adolescence I aspired to be Sandra’s version of a domestic goddess. She cooked up delicious {often themed} recipes and always closed each segment with a tablescape that tied in to that episodes meal. Wolf Moon Mixers are my version of semi-homemade cocktails. Since the mixer is already crafted for you all you have to do is pick up your favorite liquor and garnishes and you look like a seasoned bartender. If you’ve visited our house recently you’ve been offered a pineapple jalapeno margarita, my current favorite libation. Spicy, sweet, and perfect for a Saturday night in.
Here are three cocktail recipes we mixed up this weekend.
Wolf Moon Hibiscus Mimosa
1 oz Wolf Moon Hibiscus Mix
4 oz Champagne/Sparkling Wine
Garnish with berries
Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita
3 oz Wolf Moon Pineapple Jalapeño Mix
1.5 oz Mezcal, Reposado or Silver Tequila
Garnish with jalapeño slices
Ken was teasing me about how I need to up my workouts – I could not open this bottle!
Wolf Moon Greyhound
3 oz Wolf Moon Citrus Mix
1.5 oz Vodka
Splash of Club Soda
Garnish with grapefruit or your favorite citrus
How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day this year?
