Last weekend we packed up the car and took a good old fashioned day trip to Holland, Michigan. Holland is known for their annual tulip festival and gosh, were they pretty! We’ve been trying to do something extra special or fun with Annabelle every weekend now that the weather is nice, especially knowing that once the baby comes our weekends will look a bit different for some time.
Speaking of babies, I was laying in bed last night {with both babies, because Annabelle fell asleep in our bed and the other one is never too far from me if you know what I mean} and I thought to myself, I can’t believe God has made me a mama – TWICE! And then I instantly felt a little sad for all of the women who are struggling with their motherhood journey. Having lost a baby I know all too well the grief that comes with that type of great loss. However having a healthy, beautiful baby and now being blessed with another pregnancy it’s hard for me not to wonder, why am I lucky enough to experience this joy while others only feel sadness? I wish I had the answers but unfortunately I’m not sure anyone here on this Earth does. I do want you to know that I’m thinking of you. If you’re trying to become a mama, struggling to maintain a healthy pregnancy, have lost a child at any point, or are questioning if you want to be a mother at all, my heart goes out to you. Please know that this day is for you just as much as it is for me. Wanting to be a mama makes you one in my eyes.
For all of you mama’s who are in the thick of it – dealing with toddler meltdowns, baby blowouts, or all day morning sickness, happy Mother’s Day to you! We’re doing it, ladies. Every gosh darn day. Hopefully you have someone to spoil you just a little this weekend. Lord knows we deserve it! Annabelle’s school is hosting a Mother’s Day tea this afternoon and I cannot wait to hear her sing her cute songs she’s been practicing around the house.
One last thing, one of my favorite mom friendly clothing brands Sonnet James is having a Mother’s Day sale and all of their dresses are 50% off with the code MOTHERS. A deal like this is almost unheard of! In addition to the one that I’m wearing here I also snagged the cutest red polka dot wrap dress that looks like it has sold out. Both are non-maternity but bump and nursing friendly. I can’t wait to wear them all summer! If you’ve been thinking about getting one, now is definitely the time.
For the most part, your posts show your simple-minded thinking and unbelievable materialism. In this post, you pretend to understand true infertility and loss: “Wanting to be a mama makes you one in my eyes.” As if your opinion matters. Please, do us all a favor and, don’t address infertility again. Just stick to what you’re good at: shopping and believing you have fashion sense (which you don’t but we’ll let you have that just so you don’t attempt to address real-world issues in your superficial way).
You probably went to Paris once for five days and now you’ve renamed your blog to the Modern Mere. So predictable.
Let us all guess: your post next weekend will somehow involve fashion commentary on Meghan Markle’s wedding dress and how it compared to your big day. Please spare us.
I am truly so sorry you feel that way. I agree my blog is full of light and fun content and at times could be seen as materialistic based on the topics in which I choose to write about. I was hoping to speak to all women with this post in particular, since I know it’s a day that so many struggle. Thank you for reading and for sharing your opinion. I appreciate it!
